    I also wanted to have built in cell as I have been known to forget my phone at home and have needed to make a calls (thus requiring me to drive back home and back to where I needed to be).

      So, when it came time to look at the Series 8 and the Ultra, the Ultra was $50 more than the S8 in the larger watch size, with stainless steel and cell support. The Ultra also has a slightly larger display (that's not curved towards the edges) and larger battery.

        So, it was a no-brainer, for me, to get the Ultra. After having it for a few days, the extra weight and size of the Ultra has not been an issue. I am surprised that the M/L trail wrist band fits perfectly, even if my arm is larger than the given size range for the band.

          Before that, I had a Fitbit that I used and wore for about a year (it was part of the package that I got when I started working remotely for work 6 years ago); but, I always hated that I would have to remove the thing from the frame to charge it, battery life wasn't great...

            and the Fitbit app just stunk. Between then and now, I hadn't worn a watch of any kind at all. In a way, I liked the fact that there wasn't anything on my wrist; but, I did want to have something that I could use as a phone in a pinch w/o having a big phone on me all the time.

              Having something to track my activity and what-not is more of a bonus than anything else. Even if I switched to Android, the Google/Samsung smartwatch hardware and software just feel like a few generations behind; and, who knows how long either will support a device after launch
