@saidsoftly @winocm I had purchased a number of Dell PowerEdge rack servers at work that were used to run VMware ESXi and all of the virtual machine datastores were either on iSCSI or Fibre Channel. It didn't make sense to spend $$$ on boot HDD or SSD when a dual 16 or 32 GB SD module was cheaper.

@saidsoftly @winocm I could have gone with the bootable internal USB option, but I've had better luck with embedded or industrial SD cards vs run of the mill USB sticks that would fit into the server. The IBM blades we had didn't have SD boot option, so they got 36GB 10K SAS drives (cheapest opt.)

@saidsoftly @winocm If we had more non-VM or non-SQL storage available on our EMC arrays, I would have considered creating boot volumes and boot over FC. Oh, well...
