@nicolemark_ re: Intel to Apple Silicon I got tired of my 2019 16" MBP becoming a jet engine and space heater while doing moderate tasks and decided to make the jump to an Apple Silicon MBP. I wanted the 16" and opted to go middle of the road w/ specs with 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB SSD.

@nicolemark_ It's been pretty darn snappy for what I'm doing now. I have a mix of software that's compiled for Intel, thus using Rosetta 2, and a few Universal applications. I haven't installed the Adobe stuff yet. That... will be interesting 😄

@nicolemark_ re Python: I'm using this opportunity to make 3.9.7 my default version of Python while I had been using 3.8.11 on my 2019 16" MBP. 3.9.x is the version that newer non-LTS versions of Ubuntu is including as default. I also have 3.10.0 installed for testing my scripts and apps.

@nicolemark_ I'm hanging on to my 2019 16" MBP as I still have several Windows virtual machines on there for DevTest and for tools that I haven't found a good enough replacement for certain workflows. I have a Surface Pro 3 but it's slooooooooow and not lap use friendly. #sigh
