Well, after about 4 hours of cleaning up and re-doing my home network, everything is back up and running. AirPort Extreme is now in bridging mode. Have a @NetgateUSA SG3100 as a security gateway. Replaced an 8-port Gig switch with a 24-port one.Permalink On twitter.com

In powering down one of my ESXi hosts (Dell Precision 3430), found out that the system battery died and thankfully had a number of new spares. I forgot to change the boot order and it ended up booting off of a SATA SSD instead of the NVMe one.Permalink On twitter.com

The long network cable that I had as a spare to go from the SG3100 to the cable modem (which is across the room) didn't work. So, I now have a janky cable precariously dangling until I can get a replacement one.On twitter.com

Setting up the @NetgateUSA SG3100 was relatively painless but ran into a couple of gotchas re: DNS resolver, esp. with DHCPv6. I had to set up domain overrides to point internal domains to my internal DNS servers and added "private-domain" to deal with Plex secure connection fun.Permalink On twitter.com
