                      1. I started listening to @waitwait off and on sometime in 2005, because it was on @OPB radio while I was driving or on the off chance that I had the radio on at home. It was until 2006 that I got hooked on the show and listened to it almost every weekend.

I went from being hooked on @waitwait to becoming /slightly/ obsessed with the show. By that time, I had jotted down a few notes to remember some key moments on the show or when my favorite panelists were on the show.

Unfortunately, the little notebook that I started jotting down my notes in got lost in the shuffle (either while switching jobs or during Spring cleaning). That's when I decided to finally start putting my @waitwait notes and data into a database.

Although the data was easy to search through using SQL queries, I still wanted it to be available as a web page so that it could be viewed from anywhere. Thus, the first version of the @waitwait Stats Page was hosted over my DSL connection from a small home server.

Over time, as more and more people learned about the stats page and I provided a means for people to contact me, I started adding more and more features to the page; including, adding fields for where @waitwait was taped, etc.

But, with everything on one large web page, it became quite unwieldy and was so not mobile friendly. You can still see the @waitwait Stats Page used to look like before I decided to do a complete redesign at: wwdt.me/_tbt/index.html

So, I spent a good amount of time, outside of my already busy work schedule, to revamp both the core structure and the design of the site. This included creating individual views for each @waitwait show, panelists, guests, hosts and scorekeepers

It also included extending the @waitwait data that I started collecting, based on requests that I got over the years. Although, no where complete, I added fields for which panelist's Bluff the Listener story was chosen and which panelist had the correct one.

Eventually, I was humbled to learn that the producers and editors at @waitwait were using the Stats Page as a resource and that panelists were being pointed to the site to look up their appearances, etc.

I was humbled by the many times that I've been able to go see live tapings of @waitwait, including two very, very special shows: the cinecast show at NYU Skirball and Carl Kasell's last show before retiring and becoming scorekeeper emeritus.

I am also excited to be in Chicago and able to attend tonight's special #WaitWait20 extravaganza. It's been an unreal experience going from being a random listener of @waitwait to being the "Bill James" of Wait Wait... as @petersagal once said. #tbt
